Okasen is a methodologically transparent index, valuation engine and advisory service for the African art market. It is built from sourced auction and gallery records, publishes its full methodology openly, and puts every figure through curator review before publication. Okasen currently tracks 8,388 artists across 146 countries, with 767 sourced auction records. Media contact: press@okasen.com.

What you can use
Published figures are free to quote with attribution to Okasen and a link where you can.
- Index levels and monthly moves, the OKN Movers table, and the coverage statistics on the methodology page.
- Any value range shown on an artist profile, quoted as a range with its tier. Please do not present it as a single figure. We never do, and neither should a citation.
- Charts and tables, reproduced as published. For a custom cut of the data, email us.
- Systematic or commercial reuse needs prior written permission. The full terms are on the Who We Are page.
Where the data comes from
Every figure links back to its own sources on its own page. At the top level, the auction record is built from the houses that hold Modern and contemporary African art sales, among them:

- Arthouse Contemporary
- TAFETA
Primary-market prices come from galleries that represent the artists we track. We publish the names, never scraped data. Ask for the full source register and we will send it.
