Okasen connector

Use Okasen's data in Claude or ChatGPT

A read-only connector that lets an AI assistant look things up in what Okasen publishes: artists, price ranges, indices, OKN Movers and research. Answers can then cite okasen.art, with dates.

The connector URL

You'll paste this into your assistant's settings.

It is a remote MCP server (Model Context Protocol, streamable HTTP). No sign-in or API key is needed. Use is limited to 60 calls an hour per network address.

Claude

Custom connectors work on every Claude plan. The Free plan allows one.

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
Choose “Add”, then “Add custom connector”.
Name it “Okasen”, paste https://www.okasen.art/mcp as the URL, and choose “No sign in” for authentication.
In a chat, turn the Okasen connector on from the tools menu, then ask something like “What price range does Okasen publish for El Anatsui?”

On Team and Enterprise plans, an organisation owner adds the connector first, under Organization settings, then Connectors. Menu names change from time to time; Anthropic’s guide to custom connectors has the current steps.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT adds remote MCP servers through developer mode, which depends on your plan.

In ChatGPT’s settings, turn on developer mode. On a workspace plan, an admin may need to allow it.
Create a connector named “Okasen” with https://www.okasen.art/mcp as the server URL and no authentication.
In a chat, choose the Okasen connector from the tools menu and ask your question.

Okasen’s connector is read-only, so it works wherever ChatGPT allows read-only tools. OpenAI’s developer mode guide has the current steps and which plans have it.

What it can look up

Six read-only tools. Every result links to the okasen.art page it came from and carries an as-of date.

search_artists: Find artists with a public Okasen profile by name, tier, nationality or medium.
get_artist: An artist's profile as it appears on okasen.art: tier, nationality, mediums, galleries, the indices they're in, and the page's price figures.
get_published_range: The price figures an artist's page shows: the reviewed range (the confidence interval of the latest reviewed valuation of one of their works) and what galleries are asking. Never a point estimate.
get_index: An Okasen index: latest level and band, its change, and the number of sales behind it. With no name, the list of indices.
get_movers: The latest published OKN Movers list.
search_research: Okasen's published research and reports.

What it never does

The same rules as okasen.art itself.

It never reads or stores anything about you. There are no accounts or collection tools in it.
It never values a work you own. The ranges it returns are the ones on an artist's page, and they say what they are.
It returns only what okasen.art publishes. Okasen doesn't publish individual auction results, so the connector has none.
It never writes anything. Every tool is read-only.
It doesn't give investment advice, and nothing it returns is a forecast.

Your assistant sends Okasen only the lookup itself (for example, an artist’s name), not your conversation. We record which tools are called and from which app, to understand how the connector is used, and keep network addresses only in a scrambled form for the hourly limit. Your assistant, not Okasen, writes the final answer, so check figures against the linked page.
